Nick Coman will be at Owl's Nest Quilters on May 21st for a Meet & Greet and Trunk Show from 2-5 p.m. Come meet with Nick during this informal gathering to ask questions and see a wide range of his work.
Nick is a man of numerous talents. Most of his career has been spent in Los Angeles in fashion and costume design. He has a degree in fashion design from the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandizing. He has been published in Sew News, Threads magazine, Machine Quilting Unlimited, and one of his gowns appeared in a special article in Brides magazine.
Although he is still very involved in the fashion industry with designing garments and making patterns, he is also a knitter and a surface designer. Surface design means different things to different people. For the quilter, it is employing different techniques to embellish fabric.
Making your own fabric is one type of surface design, and it is precisely this that Nick will be coming to ONQ to teach. Nick will be here on June 21st to teach his method of ice dyeing batiks. Students will all come away with several yards of fabric that they have dyed themselves to use in their quilts or other projects.
Please sign up early. Space is limited.
Nick's most recent undertaking is as the owner of Dragonfly Creative, a teaching studio for fiber artists, in the beautiful town of Ridgway.
We hope you can join us for these fun-filled days with Nick.
