Trends: Circles and Curves

Another trend . . . . circles and curves. Did they ever really go away? I’m not sure, but I don’t think so. They have, however, taken on a modern twist, and they provide a wonderful canvas to show off your quilting skills. Sew Kind of Wonderful is a great resource for modern curves and turns. Mini Wonderful Curves is a book packed full of fun quilts to make using the Quick Curve Ruler.

We have an upcoming class on the Circular Log Cabin. This is a beautiful, modern twist on the traditional block. Select bright, contemporary colors for a stunning quilt. Select Christmas-themed fabrics for a holly, jolly celebration. Select Halloween- or autumn-themed fabrics for a fun entry into my favorite time of year. This is a versatile pattern. Ellen will show us how to make a large quilt, lap quilt, table runner, or placemats.

Cheryl Phillips of Phillips Fiber Arts, a Colorado-based artist, took circles to new heights. Using her ruler invention, the Squedge, she shows us some of the endless possibilities for circular quilts in her fabulous patterns. Cheryl is still going strong and designing new patterns. Watch for upcoming classes using Cheryl’s patterns coming in 2021. The dynamic duo team is back, and Teresa Spurger and Cheryl are scheming new ideas and classes!
