If our block-of-the-month projects are any indication of what’s coming up in 2021, we have two very exciting but divergent trends that promise to add to our repertoire of quilt styles and skills.
First up is Moda’s My Favorite Color sew along. This quilt uses all solids—not fabrics that read solid—but pure, unadulterated solid solids. There is nothing to distract the eye in this quilt. It allows for an appreciation of color and the quilt block designs. My Favorite Color is a sampler quilt that has awesome blocks of differing sizes and differing patterns. Working with solids also offers a canvas to showcase your quilting. There is no hiding behind wildly patterned fabrics. The stitches take center stage. This beautiful quilt was quilted by Natalia Bonner.
My Favorite Color has several colorways to choose from. But you are also free to create your own unique colorway.
We have a new line of solid fabrics from Andover. The Century Solid collection offers 100 great colors that are perfect for this sew along. What we like about this line of fabric is the feel and hand of this fabric. It isn’t your typical solid fabric which tends to be stiff. This is a beautiful fabric line that we hope you will try.
Next up.....Tula Pink's Nebula.
Tula's block-of-the-month quilt is full of color and pattern. It is a feast to eye. She has 81 distinct fabrics and each section of the star is a different "block" pattern. This is an intricate quilt that uses the Sidekick ruler. This quilt is trending the mixture of ruler technique with our desire to continue to learn and grow in our quilting skills. You will learn so many new pattern combinations and color combinations with this one. There is still time to join us for this beauty!
