Three Colorado Artists Coming to Owl's Nest Quilters

If you haven't noticed by now, I love Colorado. I'm a native of Colorado, and it is an integral part of who I am and what I am drawn to in my interests. We have a Colorado section in the shop and on the website. Under products, you will see the Celebrate Colorado tab. Be sure to take a look and see just some of the great talent we have in this state.

We are also doing our Colorado Quilting Celebrations boxes, the first of which was Grand Junction's Cheryl Phillips of Phillips Fiber Art. Our second one is scheduled for release in June. It will feature another one of Grand Junction's artists, Kris Holderness. Kris has created a new pattern just for the box!

Colorado has a wealth of amazing quilting and fiber artists. and we have three coming to Owl's Nest Quilters in August, September, and October. Each of these artists will bring us new techniques and skills.

Jackie Vujcich is going to be here in August to teach us her signature landscape quilting technique. We will be working on Colorado Escape, the quilt pictured below in the upper left corner. Jackie is the founder of Colorado Creations Quilting, an Erie-based company that specializes in landscape patterns. Although landscapes are her favorites, she also creates a few traditional pieced patterns.

Lea McComas, a Boulder resident, will be here in September to teach us raw-edged applique portraits. Lea is an award-winner quilter whose work has reached international acclaim. Create your own portrait quilt from a photograph of a loved one in your life. Lea will show us how.

Then on Sept. 30-Oct. 1, Katie Fowler will be here to teach us Needle Felted Wool Applique (see below in upper left corner). This is something new that I hope everyone will try. Katie will walk us through the entire process. In the end, you will have a small wall hanging that is uniquely yours to use as a centerpiece in a larger project or to hang as is.

All three of these special workshops are not to be missed. Space is limited, so be sure to sign up. Personally, I can't wait for these artists to arrive! I'm so excited to learn new techniques from some of Colorado's greatest quilters and fiber artists.
